Balloon Boy Parents Richard And Mayumi Heene Get Jail Time
'Tis the season to put the smack down on stupid people! Balloon boy's parents, Richard and Mayumi Heene, were both sentenced to jail for their jackhole hoax they pulled off in October. Judge Stephen Schapanski summed up the whole Balloon boy plot by saying that in the end, "this case is about is deception, exploitation.and money."

Richard Heene was given 90 days in jail and four years of probation, and during that probation period he is not allowed to do any media interviews or book deals for his Balloon Boy ordeal. Not to mention he has to pay for the state and federal rescue effort that was used to catch a balloon which had nothing in it.
His wife Mayumi only received 20 days of jail time, which will be served work release, and won't begin until after her hubby is released so they both aren't away from the children at the same time.
I'm just glad they didn't get out of this without any kind of reprimand. They're a holes who had half the country freaking out over a little boy in a balloon that never was.[source:Poponthepop.com]
